it's time to get real

Okay.  I feel like we know each other pretty well by now, right?  I'm going to share something with you that you don't know about me.  As you've seen by my pictures I have fabulous hair.  Haha.  Well I wish I could say I wake up and it looks like that, BUT it takes lots of work to get it to look that awesome.  You know why???  Because I have naturally curly hair.  That's right, I straighten my hair EVERY DAY!!!!!  Here's a little background on my hair.  :)

I had curly hair from really early on.  And I'm not going to lie, I think I was a pretty cute little girl.

Then when I got a little older, I didn't like it so much so I slicked it back into a curly/frizzy pony tail.  This was not a good look for me.  Ha.

This is basically what I looked like from middle school through collage.  That's right college.  Uggg.  I had long, curly hair.  Don't get me wrong, I don't hate my curly hair...it's just now that I have crossed over and straighten it now, I much prefer it straight.

I straightened my hair for the first time after college and I've been straightening it ever since!  I got it cut too and now I'm trying to grow it back out.  Look how pretty it is straight!!  This is the ME that I like to look at in the mirror.

It's about to get real!  Here's the process to get my hair from wet and curly to dry and straight.  Picture 1 is me right out of the shower with wet hair.  Picture 2 is after I blow dry.  I brushed it down so it would be more tame.  Picture 3 is me after 30 minutes of flat ironing.  As you can see the left side is already flipped out a bit-story of my life!!!

Here are some of my hair products.  Now I always us the Frizz Ease for heat protection and the other two are used every now and then.  Clearly I have a frizz problem as seen in picture 2 above so I'm always on the hunt for a good product to tame the beast.

With all that being said, I am so tired of flat ironing my hair.  I can't even tell you how much I hate it!!!!  I've been really considering getting a Brazilian blow out.  I mean to not have to straighten my hair every morning for 2-3 months sounds A-MAZING!

I'd love to get it done soon so that I won't have to mess with my hair this summer.  We'll be traveling to my in-law's lake house and I always end up wearing it curly there because there's no point to straighten it since it will just get wet.

SO... I need some advice friends...have you ever had a Brazillian blow out, did you like it, did it last as long as they said it would, would you do it again, what do I need to know before I do it??? Any suggestions would be awesome.

Wishing my super sweet mother-in-law, Laurie, a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!  Looking forward to celebrating your birthday and Mother's day this weekend!  Have a wonderful birthday!!

Have a wonderful Wednesday FRIENDS!

  1. Sorry I can't help with the blow out question - but I do think your hair looks so cute when you're done with it! :) Don't worry - my hair takes a lot of work too!

  4. I feel your pain, girlfriend! Curly hair is so time consuming and it rarely looks the way you want it to, even after hours of styling. I did a version of the Brazillian blow-out that was less intense and only lasted for six weeks. It didn't make my hair fall naturally straight, but it definitely took less time and effort to blowdry!

Definitely let us know if you decide to try it! Your hair looks nice either way.

  6. I've never had a blowout, but if you straighten your hair every day I would absolutely try it out! If it doesn't work out, at least you'll know. And if it saves you time every morning, that would be awesome.

Post about it if you do it! :)

  8. I do still love the curly hair too! A lot of people that live near my get the B. blowout and it def. works. Their are also other ways that use less chemicals, I will have to search for what they are called!

  9. I too have been considering a Keratin treatment. I have naturally wavy hair and I love my hair so much better when it's straight. However, I have a co-worker that gets a keratin treatment and it does not make your hair stick straight. She still has to go over it with a flat iron. It mostly just cuts down on the frizz.

  11. HELLO! I have super curly hair too. It usually takes me 2 hours from wet to dry. But I am also really lucky that my hair doesn't get greasy so I don't have to wash it very often and it looks real good! I haven't done the blow out, but my sister in law did it, and she swears by it. She's done it twice now, and said she could tell a huge difference the second time. That her hair was easier to handle and straightened really well.

I think you were a cute little girl too. Especially the sailor photo :)

  12. Your hair does look fabulous! :)
I have curly hair too. I use to not like it when I was younger but now I do. I would like to be able to straighten my hair every now an then but I don't like spending an hour straightening it to watch it friz and curl in about 10 minutes... the Florida humidity and my hair being really long doesn't help.

  13. Oh my gosh that is what my hair looks like after I blow dry it too! My hair is also naturally curly and such an incredible pain lol. Like I can't just blow dry or let it air dry - I always have to do something to it. I totally know where you're coming from. I don't know enough about Brazilian Blow Outs to give an opinion but I would definitely be interested to see your results if you get one! :)
