have you seen bethenny?

I love me some Bethenny Frankel.  She's totally awesome.  I loved her on The Real Housewives of NY and was excited when she got her own show on Bravo AND now she has her own talk show that premiered this week!

She's such a funny person and I love her personality.  She's not like me at all and I think that's why I like her.  She's not afraid to tell you how she's feeling or what she thinks.  She just makes me laugh.

Her set looks amazing!  It looks so cozy and inviting!  The yellow and turquoise color scheme is awesome.  It's so fresh and not like any other talk show set.  Well done!

I'm thrilled that she has her own talk show, Bethenny, and I'm going to be a dedicated watcher.  It comes on EVERYDAY so that's a lot of time, but I'm fan so clearly I'm going to support her.  (I have a job so I'll be recording it...FYI.)  Oh and Ellen DeGeneres is the producer...she's Bethenny's boss.  If Ellen's got her stamp of approval on it, you know it's good!!!

Do YOU love Bethenny?  Have YOU watched her new talk show?

I want to say thank you soooooo much to everyone who commented on my blog yesterday!  Ya'll are truly amazing and made me feel so good about my sill vlog.  I was so embarrassed to post it because I hate myself on video and after having to revideo it for like 8 times I almost gave up.  Y'all totally made my day with all your awesome comments so I just wanted to say thanks!  Just for that, you may see another vlog in the future!

Happy Wednesday!  Okay friends...I decided to participate in a vlog with the awesome Miki from Becoming What I Always Was.  Now, I must admit I felt sooooo silly filming myself, but I did it for you all.

I don't have any crazy sweaters or secret items I stash away because I just can't get rid of them.  SO instead I wanted to show you a few oufits that I love and consider my "go to" outfits.

ENJOY...

I love seeing other people vlog because it's so much more personal than just words, but I can't stand myself on video.  Ha.  I guess it's how it always goes, right?  If you're lucky, you may see another vlog in the future.  We'll see!

lets talk bachelorette

It's Tuesday, which means last night was The Bachelorette and you better believe I was watching!  I watched the first half with some of my girl friends and the second half at home by myself.  While it's fun to watch with others to chat about the drama, I hate to admit I like to watch it alone (or with Mr. H) because I like to really listen and watch.  Haha.  I like to catch every second!

Here's a breakdown of my top likes and top dislikes of the remaining 9 guys!  I approve of Emily's decision to send Alejandro home.  I mean who was he?  I think he maybe had 42 minutes of camera time with her since the premiere.

LIKES
(I give you a rose)

Jef: Jef and Emily really connected last night and had a great evening that ended with a sweet kiss.  I love how genuine he is with Emily and I feel he truly has the right intentions.

Sean: I didn't like Sean from the start, but after last week he's made a big turn in my book.  I mean being a Dallas girl myself, I can say that us Dallas folks just know how to be awesome!  He is very sweet to Emily and the would make some beautiful babies.

Arie: Arie is just handsome and he honestly cares for her.  I think he made a bad judgement call in not being the one to mention that Kalon was a sleaze bag, but I get that he didn't want to get into other relationships, but really!  Arie needs to step it up.  I like him and don't want to see him get kicked off just yet.

DISLIKE
(Lonesome taxi ride home)

Ryan: Okay, I don't even know where to start with Ryan.  He's totally the guy you want to hate...he knows it, and he likes it!  He makes me crazy and the comment he made last week about being the next Bachelor.  Emily needs to send him to the curb or she's going to get hurt.  She knows the guy he is and she's falling into his trap.  Dear Emily, beware of Ryan.  He's a creep and is totally playing you.  Oh and he's loving every moment of it.  -Devoted Watcher

John: There aren't a lot of reasons why I don't like John, but who calls them self  "Wolf"???  He hasn't done anything amazing to make me fall in love with him so I can only assume Emily feels the same way.

Doug: Doug seems like an outstanding guy.  I'm not going to lie.  But he has a kid and it just seems like baggage.  Ha.  JK.  There's something about him that I just don't like.  I honestly don't see a real spark between Emily and Doug.  He's sweet an all, but ehhhh I'm not feeling it.

So there you have it.  Those are my top picks this episode.  I love it once it gets more into the season so we get to know the guys better and relationships begin to grow.  Can't wait to see what next week brings!!

Today I'm liking up for the first time with the lovely Meghan from More from Meg.  Check out all the chit cat about the latest episode of The Bachelorette!

a little r&r

Weekends are my favorite!  Mr. H and I had a wonderful, fun, relaxing weekend at the lake by ourselves.  Usually, Mr. H's parents and siblings are there too, but this weekend it was just us, which was a nice change.  We love spending time with everyone, but after a busy week it was great to just spend time together along.

Mr. H took me on a boat ride around the lake.  It was a gorgeous day and I had a change to get a little sun (obviously I put sunscreen on since my skin is so precious!).

Okay, this was my favorite part of the weekend....except spending it with Mr. H of course!  We made homemade ice cream.  We used a Cuisinart ice cream maker to make our yummy ice cream.  Mr. H made this before and he knew which recipe to use...this is why I love him!!

  • 1-1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1-1/8 cups granulated sugar
  • 3 cups heavy cream
  • 1-1/2 tablespoons pure vanilla extract

In a medium mixing bowl, use a hand mixer on low speed to combine the milk and granulated sugar until the sugar is dissolved, about 1 to 2 minutes.
Stir in the heavy cream and vanilla. Turn the machine on; pour the mixture into freezer bowl, and let mix until thickened, about 20 to 25 minutes. The ice cream will have a soft, creamy texture. If a firmer consistency is desired, transfer the ice cream to an airtight container and place in freezer for about 2 hours. Remove from freezer about 15 minutes before serving.

BUT we had to come up with Plan B because we couldn't find the insert.  Mr. H had a brilliant idea to use spatchulas to churn the mixture.  Guess what??  It worked!!!!  Mr. H and I made a great team and both had the end result of yummy ice cream in mind.

We added mini chocolate chips to the vanilla and we could barely wait for it to harden up in the freezer before we go into it.

There is honestly nothing better than homemade ice cream!  It was totally worth holding the spatchulas for 25 minutes...or watching Mr. H hold the spatchulas.  Wishing I was eating some right now!

Mr. H and I played a couple games of Skip Bo and ping pong.  I made sure not to beat Mr. H too much!

~photo by Mr. H~ (this is his contribution to my blog)

Dinner was amazing!  Mr. H grilled out steaks for us and we had baked potatoes with fresh green beans.

Sunday we tried paddle boarding again.  The water wasn't very choppy, but it was windy.  I was nervous to try it again, but excited at the same time.  I just paddled around the cove, but it was really hard turning around because I was going against the wind.  I'm just glad I didn't fall off!

Mr. H is more of a pro at it than me.  When he was done, he said it wasn't as bad as he though.  I think he just said that because he wanted to be tough.  I thought it was pretty challenging.  Ha.

I feel rejuvenated and rested.  I'm so thankful that I got to spend a fun weekend away with my best friend.  Mr. H made my weekend super fun.  It's always sad leaving, but we'll be back for July 4th weekend for another fun time with the family.  (oh and more homemade ice cream!!!)

Tonight is another episode of the Bachelorette and I'm pretty excited!  Mr. H is out of town for the night for work (which makes me sad), but I'll spend the evening with some good girl friends eating dinner and watching the Bachelorette.  Good times ahead tonight!!

Here's to a good MONDAY!

fashion friday...short+sweet

FRIDAYS are my favorite days.  It's the start to the weekend and it's Fashion Friday!  I love shopping so I get so excited to "shop" for my Friday outfits.  I went crazy again this week and have put together three outfits.  I just can't help myself!

Summer is upon us!  It's been in the high 90's around here so it's clearly the perfect time for shorts.  I actually went through a phase a few years ago where I hated shorts and would never wear them.  I think it was a body image thing, but I'm over that...thankgoodness!

I am a fan of the bold, bright colored pants and it translates well into shorts too!  I've also been seeing some flowey shorts and I'm loving those too.  And there are lots of fun patterns shorts I've been seeing lately too.  Don't be afraid to take a risk!  You might just find you favorite pair of shorts.

classic/fun
Mint is obviously so in this season and I've been hooked the second I saw mint "things."  I love the classic feel of this outfit with the pop of mint, which makes it a little fun.  I saw this clutch at J. Crew and feel in love with the stripes...it sort of has a chevron look too.

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6

bold/tropical
Yellow and blue are a perfect combination.  I've never really loved yellow, but I totally had a change of heart this year.  It's so cheery, how can you not love it!  If I was going on vacation somewhere tropical, I'd totally wear this fun casual outfit.

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6

comfy/chic
I saw this top from J. Crew (totally out of my price range...btw), but I fell in love because I love how comfy it looks plus it's PINK.  And those shorts from J. Crew too look casual, yet fun.  I love the gold accessories with the pink and navy.  I wish I had all these pieces to wear today!

I'm linking up with the lovely {av} over at long distance loving for my Friday's Fancies.  Check out some of the other great outfits fellow bloggers have put together.  It's one of my favorite parts of the link up.

I'm excited about this weekend.  Mr. H and I will be headed to the lake again, but this time it will just be the two of us!  While it's fun to share the weekend with family I must say it's going to be really nice and relaxing with it being just Mr. H and I!!  We asked a few friends to join us, but everyone we asked already had plans.  It must have just been meant to be for it to be us!  I'm totally okay with that.

We'll have lots of lounge time, game playing, TV watching, maybe a boat ride, and hopefully I'll be able to paddle board again.  Last time the lake was too choppy and I wasn't about to try and then fall.  Ha.

I'll be packing some shorts to wear this weekend.  Even though it's just going to be us, I can still look fashionable...right!!

What's your FAVORITE pair of shorts you own?

What do YOU plan to do this weekend?

Happy FRIDAY!!

meet nicole...

Okay FRIENDS...I want to introduce you to Nicole over at Living with Fletch.  I have been following Nicole for a while and love hearing her stories about her and her husband, Fletch(er).  I mean her husband's name is Fletch...how awesome is that.  They have a love (although it's probably more of an obsession) for Disneyland and their love story is so sweet plus they are the cutest couple ever.

Go check out Nicole and show her so love.

hair update...

If you've been following my blog recently, you know last week I got a Brazilian blowout.  It was my first time to to try it and I must say I am officially hooked.

So once you get it done, you have to wait 72 hours before you can get your hair wet, meaning you can't take a shower for three days!!!!!  It didn't really click that it would be that long, but on day two I was freaking out because I couldn't stand it.  You also aren't suppose to put anything in it: headband, barrette, rubber band, clip...nothing.  It would have made it do able if I could at least pull it up.  See I need to wash my hair for SURE every other day or it looks oily, greasy and just plain disgusting!  I'm talking it looked two shades darker.  Gross right!  And I had that wedding to go to on last Friday.  In person it looked bad, but after looking at pictures you couldn't tell.

Saturday night I FINALLY got to wash it and I washed it twice just to get it extra clean!!  I blow dried it while brushing it-nothing fancy.  No round brush or anything and it was STRAIGHT!!!  It flipped out a little at the end and was a tad frizzy, but OMG it was soooooo much better than it was before.  Then all I had to do was flat iron the ends and it only took less than 10 minutes.  That's AMAZING because before it would take me about 30 minutes if not more.

I think it's safe to say I'm officially hooked and I would highly recommend the Brazilian blowout to anyone who has curly or frizzy hair.  It makes your hair shinny and sooooo soft!  The only think I hated was waiting the 72 hours before I could wash it.  So there you have it.  I have 3-4 months of amazing hair and I'm going to love every minute of it!!!
