happy birthday dad!!

It's Monday already...is it me or do the weekends go by extremely fast?!?!?!?  Mr. H and I love the weekends.  We usually have lots of time to spend together.

Friday night in our family is pizza night.  I think if it's not your tradition too-it should be!  It's awesome. We mix it up every weekend: sometimes it's take out, sometimes we go out and other times we'll get a frozen pizza.  Friday night we went to one of our favorite pizza places, Grimaldi's.  It's so yummy.  Fire brick oven pizza is the best.  It was a cool evening so we thought we'd go and sit outside...well everyone else had the same idea.  So unfortunately, we had to sit inside.  When the pizza this good, who cares where you sit, right!

On the way home, Mr. H took a little detour to Sonic.  I was thrilled he thought of stopping to get a yummy MINI Sonic blast.  It's a idea I would have had for sure, but didn't know if he'd be up for it.  Well surprise...he was!  It was a fun date night together!

Saturday night my family got together to celebrate my dad's birthday (which is actually TODAY).  Now that my brother moved back home, it's fun to all be together.  My grandpa even came in town for my dad's birthday.

I'm so lucky to have all my immediate family close by.  It makes these sort of celebrations so much more fun when we can all be together to celebrate.

Dad, thanks for being such a big part of my life.  We're so lucky to have a wonderful dad who cares so much about us.  Your positive attitude about all situations is contagious and I am thankful to have you as an example.  I'm so happy to have you as my dad.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!  I love you!

Happy Monday!!

a little r&r

Lake weekends are truly the best!  Mr. H and I took a friend to the lake and had such a fun and restful time.  Sometimes after being so busy it's nice to get away from it and be still.

While I did have to edit pictures most of Saturday I still had a great time.  It's just what I needed.  I have been getting stressed with work...it's our busy time of year so it's normal.

Here's a little recap of what we did...
  • -slept in (at least I did.  Mr. H wakes up at before 7 am most mornings!!)
  • -ate yummy food
  • -played skip bo
  • -cooked out
  • -made s'mores
  • -sat outside
  • -went out to breakfast
  • -made homemade vanilla ice cream
  • -lounged inside
  • -enjoyed the view
  • -had fun with Mr. H, our friend Mel and Mr.H's brother and his girlfriend

We're so blessed to be able to drive 3.5 hours to escape at the lake house and enjoy time with family and friends.  I'm going to try to hold onto this idea of being relaxed so I don't stress myself out.

I hope YOU had a relaxing weekend too!

p.s. I never showed you my purchases from last weekend.  I still want to show you my great deals and my new brown boots to see if you approve.

Happy MONDAY!

happy birthday b!

We celebrated our nephew's 2nd birthday yesterday!  Or should I say my family celebrated while he took a nap.  Ha.  We all got together for lunch and it's right around his nap time.  He spent the first part of lunch crying because he was so tired...poor thing.  But after all, it's his birthday and he can cry if he wants to, right???  Soooo, since he was napping, the only pictures we got were of my family minus the birthday boy Bentley.  (so sad!)

My brother is moving back to Texas!!!  He spent two years in Colorado, but could hear Texas calling his name to come home.  This is the first picture we've had together since mine and Mr. H's wedding a year ago!  Crazy huh.

My brother's girlfriend came down from Colorado and we all got to meet her for the first time.  She was so sweet and fit it really well!

Isn't Bentley's momma gorgeous?  My sister is the best momma to sweet B and my very special sister!

My dad and Marcie came over to celebrate too so it was one big happy family event!  We had yummy BBQ and then played Mexican train.  Anytime we have a group together I always suggest Mexican train...it's just so fun!

Mr. H and I happily married one year later!  I remember celebrating Bentley's one year birthday last year the day we got back from our honeymoon to the Bahamas.  Oh how I wish we just returned from a week vacation at the Bahamas!!!!

We had a fun weekend with family and friends and it's back to work again!  Good things always have to come to and end.

Happy MONDAY!

let's talk bachelor pad PLUS labor day recap

How come long weekends always go by so fast?  Mr. H and I had a fun, relaxing weekend at the lake. We enjoyed family time, boat ride, good food, skip bo, mexican train, yummy homemade ice cream, sleeping in, lounging and an extra day to do nothing!

1. Mexican train is for sure one of my favorite games.  It's a super fun domino game we play all the time at the lake.  It's sort of similar to chicken feet if you've ever played that.
2. Mr. H wanted to create a logo or brand for the lake house.  Here's what he came up with and I designed it in Photoshop.  He made sample cozies and took them to the lake to she the in laws.  They were a hit.  We'll be making more stuff with the cool logo.
3. Okay, I know what you are thinking.  Cheetos are so bad for you.  I know that.  I didn't buy them and I didn't request them; however, it doesn't mean I won't snack on a few!  They bring back memories of my childhood.  And for sure the puffs are better than the crunchy ones...Mr. H would disagree.  We don't buy them for in our family so it doesn't even matter.  Haha.
4. Mr. H and I on the boat.  We only got out on the boat once (if you can believe it).  The water was so choppy it wasn't even an enjoyable ride.  I was holding an ice tea and most of it ended up all over me because it was so bumpy.

We got home and I was so excited for another episode of Bachelor Pad.  After the last few episodes, I've been a little disappointed this season; however, that has not stopped me from watching.  I'm very anxious to find out how it will all end.

The first competition was okay, but the sining competition was insane.  I would have died...literally. I do NOT sing in front of people so this would have been terrifying to me!!!  I give props to each of them for giving it their best shot.

Is it just me or did anyone else not know the "most famous rock song of all times?"  I mean I wish they would have done a more popular song...perhaps something pop.  I'm sure Night Rider or whoever was all they could afford.

via
Nick and Rachel- I'm actually excited for you Rachel that you made it this far.  You are certainly my favorite of the top 8.  Nick, I feel like you had it really easy and it's sort of not fair that you made it in the top.  Y'all did for sure have the best performance so hats off to you two!

via
Chris and Sarah- How do you both keep winning?  I'm so glad y'all didn't win the singing competition though, y'alls performance was not so good and the singing was for sure not.  I REALLY do NOT want y'all to win.  When I say y'all I really mean Chris.

via
Tony and Blakeley- It's a shame you went home Tony.  I think you deserved to be in the top 4.  Blakeley, I hate to say this, but I'm glad you are gone.  You were always a little annoying to me.  Although, I'm with you in hoping Chris does NOT win!!  I hope y'alls relationship makes it.  The journey would have all been worth it!

via
Ed and Jaclyn- Words cannot describe how horrible your performance was.  I mean really.  Jaclyn, I don't understand why you are getting all worked up about your friendship with Rachel.  It's a competition and there is only one winner.  You should be happy for your friend.  It's very childish to say she might as well be dead to you.  That's just stupid.  Ed, you were for sure entertaining this season, but I am glad you didn't make it to the end.  After your season with Jillian and hearing what went down, I just don't have a lot of respect for you.  AND not to mention how you handled your "hook up" with Jaclyn.

Seeing the previews makes me SOOOOOOOOO excited for the season finale next Monday.  Something crazy happens and even Chris Harrison is surprised.  They have left me in suspense and I can't wait!

p.s. If you know what happens in the finale...PLEASE DON'T TELL ME!!!!  I like to be surprised.  Thanks!

I'm liking up with the lovely girls Meghan from More from Meg AND Alisa from All Things Alisa.  They brought us the wonderful Bachelorette link up and now they're talking about the crazy Bachelor Pad. Check out all the chit cat about the latest episode of the Bachelor Pad!

It's a short work week.  Happy TUESDAY friends!

fashion friday...labor day

It's a holiday, which means a long weekend ahead.  That makes me very happy!!  Labor Day signifies the end of summer is nearing.  While I'm ready for cooler weather, I am sad that I'll no longer get to wear summer clothes.  I love summer dresses and shorts!!

Today's Friday's Fancies is all about dressing for the Labor Day weekend.  Summer is the perfect time to wear bright, bold colors so both outfits I put together are fun colors.

These two outfits make me wish summer was just starting!  I'll be sad when summer bright colors turn into fall jewel tones.

I'm linking up with the lovely {av} over at long distance loving for my Friday's Fancies.  Check out some of the other great outfits fellow bloggers have put together.  It's one of my favorite parts of the link up.

This Labor Day weekend Mr. H and I are headed to the lake!  We've been so busy this summer we haven't been back since July 4.  I'm looking forward to a lot of relaxing, good food and hanging with the in-laws.

Hava a Happy Labor Day Weekend!!!

awesome birthday!!!

I'm so blessed to have such an amazing husband, family and friends!  They helped make my 28th birthday so special!!!!!!  I can certainly say that I had the best birthday.

My mom helped me start my birthday by taking me out to lunch at a yummy pizza place.  We then went shopping at a cute little boutique where I got a few clothes and earrings.

Mr. H took Friday afternoon on to spend time with me on my birthday.  I had lots of gifts to open....it felt like Christmas.

Mr. H got me that cute tote from J.Crew and lots of jewelry.  I love jewelry so that was perfect!  One of my sweet friends got me that Scentsy warmer and lemons and berries scent.  I've never had anything Scentsy so I'm excited to try it out.  My mother in law embroidered an "A" for me and framed it.  I love personalized gifts so that was perfect.  I put it up in our room already!  I also got some birthday money from my parents and several family members.  I'm soooooo blessed!!!
Then after I had opened all my gifts...Mr. H tells me to close my eyes.  He had another surprise for me.  I opened my eyes and saw this HUGE Michael Kors bag.  He had already told me not to expect a super fancy gift, which was totally okay with me.  Needless to say, I was sort of in shock when I saw this!!

Mr. H got me my first big girl purse. Haha.  I've never had a designer bag before so I was giddy!  He did SOOOOOO GOOD!  I am in love with it.  It's a light cream so it's perfect for fall and summer plus the size is just right...not too big/not too small.

Mr. H planned a fancy dinner at Old Hickory located in the Gaylord Texan.  I of course needed a picture of me and my new purse!!

Mr. H and I pose for a quick picture before we had one of the best dinners EVER!  Let's just say that Old Hickory will become a birthday tradition.  We each ate a filet mignon and then split olive oil and thyme whipped mashed potatoes and habanero cream corn.  Then we had carrot cake cheesecake for dessert.  Mmmmmmm.

We of course had to take a picture with the statue guy.  Mr. H was being silly pretending to be a statue too and then pretending to kiss him.  Oh Mr. H!

Saturday night we celebrated Chris and Laura's wedding!  She looked stunning and the reception was so beautiful.  I love weddings that are personalized.  You know when you leave the wedding and say...that was so "enter name."  Laura (and Chris) did an amazing job putting their wedding together.

Instead of a cake, they had mini bundt cakes and cookies.  I would describe their theme as rustic chic.  I loved all the burlap accents.

For the favor, they gave each guest an old fashioned bottle of coke with a cute picture of them and a prayer on the back.  I love all the little details at weddings.  It makes them so personal.

Here's one of my sweet friends Rachael and she actually got engaged just after the wedding!  I got a text at 11:24 pm saying she got engaged!!  I'm so happy for them.  They will be having a very short engagement so that will be #7 this year.  This is the year of weddings for Mr. H and I!

The groom and Mr. H are best buds.  Chris and Laura, Mr. H and I are so blessed to have you as friends.  We are so happy to walk along side you in marriage.  I pray the Lord will always be at the center of your marriage and remember to love each other daily!!  Congrats!

In addition to my birthday extravaganza and the wedding, my cousins are in town from Amarillo so we spent some time with them.  They'll be here all week and I'm excited to spend more time with them!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!  Thanks for all the birthday wishes on Friday!

it's my birthday, plus fashion friday!

Okay, I'm officially 28 years old!  Wow.  It's hard to believe in two years I'll be 30.  However, for now I'll just focus on being 28.

The best thing that happened during my year of being 27 is that I got married!  I think that will go down as being one of the best years of my life.  28 has a lot to live up to.

A little walk down memory lane...

Since I have a summer birthday I never had school on my birthday.  Then, once I entered into the real world I had things thing called work I had to go to on my birthday...yuck!  Ha.  I have been very fortunate though to be able to take it off.  So I will not be working tomorrow and instead I'll be spending the afternoon with my mom and then it's off to dinner with Mr. H!  I'm SO excited!!!!  I love celebrating my birthday.  Even though I'm getting older, I still enjoy it.

It's summer (although it's quickly coming to an end), which means it's the perfect time for summer cocktails and cold drinks.  I have a Pinterest board full of yummy drinks and I've never made any.  That was a goal of mine this summer, but hasn't happened yet.

Here are two yummy ones I must try and I used them as inspiration in creating these two fabulous outfits.

*Side note: I wanted to get this dress from H&M to wear for my birthday dinner, but it was sold out in stores and now no longer available to view online.  It was adorable!

The opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympics start tonight!  I LOVE the Olympics and am so excited for them to begin.  Mr. H and I will be having my birthday dinner so we'll have to dvr the ceremony.  I'm sure it's going to be awesome.  Michael Phelps starts it off Saturday morning...can't wait!

Chris and Laura are great friends of ours and are getting married TOMORROW!  We can't wait to celebrate with this super sweet couple.  It's been so fun to have all of our friends join us in the married couples club.  Congrats friends!!!

I'm linking up with the lovely {av} over at long distance loving for my Friday's Fancies.  Check out some of the other great outfits fellow bloggers have put together.  It's one of my favorite parts of the link up.

I think that pretty much sums everything up!  I hope everyone has a wonderful day...I KNOW I will!!

HAPPY Weekend FRIENDS!!!
